MEET YOUR TRAINER, KATE CUSIMANO
Kate, an experienced dog professional and educator with diverse skills, began her journey as a dog groomer and rescue volunteer in her teens. Known for her expertise in handling both wiggly puppies and dogs with severe behavioral issues, she honed her skills across the country. Kate also has an extensive background in formal education; with a Bachelor's Degree in Geography and a Masters Degree in Special Education, she spent 12 years as a Special Educator, applying learning theory to address challenging behaviors—skills she seamlessly integrates into dog training.
Upon moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2020, Kate began pursuing her passion for teaching and learning both dogs and people by becoming a professional dog trainer. She interned under a variety of experienced trainers, volunteered in shelters, participated in formal study programs like the Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers, and continues to engage in ongoing professional development. Operating primarily from her well-equipped home in Vallejo, California, Kate offers individualized training programs, grooming appointments, and limited boarding services in a safe and comfortable environment. Her commitment to excellence extends to her personal dogs (3 former street dogs and a Belgian Malinois), actively participating in various dog sports such as French Ring and dock diving - always training and learning together.
Kate offers in person services in the Bay Area, as well as virtual training programs as appropriate for clients outside her service area. As of spring 2024, Kate will also be offering limited in person training services to her neighbors in the Moab, Utah area throughout specific periods during the calendar year.
