Hi there, I'm Kate Cusimano of Runa K9. If I had to distill my training philosophy into 3 words, those would be it.
Relationship: My goal is to help you build a trusting foundation through clear communication between human and canine family members. Consistent, predictable, and believable terms in our relationship provide clarity for our dogs, enabling them to learn and retain new things as they navigate their world.

Engagement: A key strategy for building up the relationship with our dog is to activate what trainers call ‘engagement’ - teaching the dog to work through their handler in order to gain access to something they want. An engaged dog offers focus, does their best, and enjoys a myriad of mental and physical benefits.
Fulfillment: I enjoy discovering each dog's unique motivations—what they seek and what they avoid. Whether it's craving food rewards during training, exploring during a walk, or engaging in active play, understanding these preferences helps us communicate effectively. By rewarding desirable behavior and providing consistent, clear feedback, we can enjoy more of the world together; well-trained dogs enjoy more freedoms.
